William & Helen (WIGHT) HENDERSON
My great grandparents.
Absence of Mabel and Lydia and approximate age of Millie would date this photo at about 1888. Actual identification of the sons is rather tentative, but the one on the right looks a cheeky young thing! The backdrop is identical to that in the Golden Wedding photo of William's parents, James & Amelia HENDERSON, so it must have been taken in Oamaru, at which time William would have been a blacksmith at Enfield. The family moved to Dunedin late 1895/early 1896, taking up a farm in Leith Valley which he called Helensvale. I don't yet know if he was the first to farm there.
The following chart shows 8 generations of Dad's ancestors and includes their siblings with thumbnail images.
As you will see, I'm missing a lot of photos, a lot because I don't have any (and would love to add them), but some because I just haven't gotten round to including their pictures in my database as yet. By no means all of the people are included in the site, but if they are, clicking on their chart box will take you to their page for what further information I may have.
The list of people in the following link are all the descendants, so far included in the site, of the earliest HENDERSON I've been able to trace.
Unfortunately I've been unable to find where Archibald sprang from. Archibald was a blacksmith from the Bridge of Allan, and his wife Margaret McEWAN from a family long settled in the area. I was much luckier tracing her family back thru the records.

You may also wish to check out a bit about where they came from. Select Places from the menu above and click on the info icon against "Bridge of Allan". Some day I may find time to include some other pictures I have of the area.
And the following link is a descendancy chart showing all relations and their "spice", down to my generation. I won the debate with myself about whether or not to add one more generation to this chart.
