BMDB data

Margaret McEwan (W5a2b) was born cir. Dec 1782 Drip Moss, Par. of Kincardine by Doune, PER, SCT, (assumes "Dryst", is actually Drip, given other events for the family are clearly noted as Drip.)2 She was baptized on 22 Dec 1782 Par. of Kincardine, PER, SCT; Margt Daugr to James McEwen and (blank) Dryst.2,3
Margaret McEwan (W5a2b) married Archibald Henderson, son of William Henderson and Marrion Robertson, on 28 Oct 1804 Stirling, STI, SCT, Banns called Stirling and Kincardine by Doune, Perth: "Archibald of Stirling Parish, Margaret of Kincardine by Doune."1,4,5
Margaret Henderson died aft. Mar 1828 probably in ?STI, SCT; according to family lore both parents "..died while James and 2 brothers were still infants". Still alive to take possession of Archibald's estate in Mar 1828, which would make the youngest proven child, John, 11.6,7,8
Jean Oswall (W5a2b) is likely to be the family matriarch for the families of Margaret McEwan (W5a2b). Jean is the earliest identified, however tentatively, maternal ancestor of Margaret McEWAN, wife of Archibald HENDERSON.
A direct maternal line descendant of Margaret's has tested mtDNA and is shown to be haplogroup W5a2, now changed with build 17 of the mtDNA tree Mar 2017 to W5a2b.
Family Tree DNA tell us W originates approximately 25,000 years ago from the N superhaplogroup, which dates to approximately 65,000 years ago. Mainly found distributed in west Eurasia (or Europe).
For those interested in such things, Wikipedia provides articles on both W and the progenitor haplogroup N - which, if you were introduced to the fun of dna by Bryan Sykes' "Seven Daughters of Eve" as I was, is Naomi, but she wasn't one of the original seven, but one of those added to the list with subsequent discoveries.9

E. & O. E. Some/most parish records are rather hard to read and names, places hard to interpret, particularly if you are unfamiliar with an area.
