BMDB data

     John Henderson was born on 23 Sep 1817 Bridge of Allan, Lecropt, STI, SCT, (which date fits the about 1818, Logie in the 1851 census.)2,3,4 He was baptized in 1817 Lecropt, PER, SCT; no baptism date given in register, presumed to be year of birth shown;
entry shows John as son of Archibald Henderson and Margaret McEwan, resid. Bridge of Allan; Wit: William Stevenson and James Henderson (could he be a brother of John's father Archibald?).2
     John Henderson married Isabella Berry say 1842 ?SCT (there's a marriage in the Clackmannan OPR for a John HENDERSON & Isabella BENNIE in 1842, which may, or may not be this couple, if a grandson misheard his grandmother's surname for reporting a death in 1901.
(It shows John as of the Parish of Dollar)
In addition there's a patron submission for a Margaret dtr of a John HENDERSON and Isobella BINNIE, shown as born 1847 and dying in 1917, so with this John & Isabella's dtr Margaret being of this age, and still alive in 1910, and married to a Thomas Binnie, perhaps she married a cousin?)5,6

     John Henderson died on 31 Mar 1901 Hamilton, Wentworth Co., ONT, CAN, at age 83; entry (2nd of two) shows John as 83, marr., blacksmith b SCT, (1st has no occ. and gives address as 149 ?Hessn?) c.o.d. gangrene of foot 3 mos.7
     After all these years, John has been found.
A lovely sequence of events, starting with 3 separate contacts from descendants of John's sister Margaret led me to see what else might now be available for Margaret's son William.
The additional info included an 1861 census, which I nearly missed noticing that the other person in the household was an Isabella HENDERSON (the d didn't extend up any further than the other letters, and it was all a bit of a scrawl).
This eventually led me to her father being a blacksmith John born Scotland, of about the right age to be the son of Archibald and Margaret. Luckily they emigrated after 1851, so a Cadder, Lanarkshire census, rather further afield than Logie, Bridge of Allan, etc, provided the additional data, the place of birth of Logie for John.
No record from his life with Isabella specifically states he is the son of Archibald and Margaret, but the birth date/place, the occupation, the first (only) son Archibald, and the fact that daughter Isabella was with her cousin William McGregor in 1861 in Canada all conspire to make me quite comfortable with this identification.
As yet, I've not managed to trace any living family, nor anyone else researching the family, or the "spice", although a BINNIE line in Buffalo, NY might come close with a bit more work.
Sep 2011 update: and so it did, as I believe I have found BINNIE descendants living in Arizona.
Love to hear from any descendants, particularly any with early photographs, or anyone willing to add to our knowledge of the HENDERSON dna.8

Migration

     John Henderson and Isabella Henderson immigrated in 1855 to ONT, CAN; given the 1901 census shows both John and dtr Isabella as emigrating in 1855, I assume they did so as a family of at least also Margaret, Janet, Archibald and Annie (Helen hasn't yet been found beyond 1851.)9,10

E. & O. E. Some/most parish records are rather hard to read and names, places hard to interpret, particularly if you are unfamiliar with an area.
