The Mary married to William DUNCANSON in Kincardine by Doune, Perthshire, and emigrating to Tasmania in 1855 has been sitting in my database for a long time. Every so often I'd look and try to convince myself she was one and the same as the Mary born to James McEWAN & Mary McLAREN.
But somehow the two Marys never got merged.
In Aug 2013 a set of new DNA results came in showing Family Finder matches, predicted at 4th cousin level, between myself, another HENDERSON/McEWAN descendant, and a chap with a list of surnames containing McEWAN, FISHER, FERGUSON, McLAREN and DUNCANSON.
The Mary's have now been merged and some more research done.
One of my reservations had been Mary's age. Her death registration in Tasmania redressed the inaccuracies of the other records, so that qualm was overcome.11,5

E. & O. E. Some/most parish records are rather hard to read and names, places hard to interpret, particularly if you are unfamiliar with an area.
