The Nenthorn entry reads Jany ye 10th 1756 Archbald (sic) Fairbairn in this parish and Marion Dickson in the parish of Smalhome (sic) (having produced sufficient testimonials) gave up their names for proclamation in order to marriage & gave pawns
The Smailholm entry is actually 1756 and reads:
February 18th Archibald Fairbairn & Marion Dickson after legal proclamation were married.^4,2,1

Baptisms of some children show Mary Dickson, others show her as Marion. Births do not conflict so they are assumed to belong to the one family.⁵
