BMDB data

John Daw was born cir. Oct 1798 Par. of Whitchurch, DEV, ENG.1,3 He was baptized on 26 Oct 1798 Par. of Whitchurch, DEV; entry reads: John son of Isaac and Sarah Daw Octr 26th.1
John Daw married Mary Friend, daughter of James Friend and Rebecca UnknownSurname (m. FRIEND), on 4 Dec 1823 Stoke Damerel, DEV, ENG, banns called St Eustachus 7th, 14th, 21st Jan 1821 (sic), John Daw and Mary Friend b.o.t.p.
Bishop Transcripts for the Parish of Stoke Damerel show the marriage of John Daw hatter and Mary Friend b.o.t.p. 4 Dec 1823 ! Both signed; Wit: Thomas Smith, Mary Burt.4,5,6
John Daw died in Jul 1831 Higher Brook St, Tavistock, DEV, ENG, leaving behind his wife with an unborn child.3 He was buried on 7 Jul 1831 Tavistock, DEV, ENG, entry shows John DAW as 32, resid. Higher Brook St.3
Does anyone have any explanation for the date discrepancies between the Tavistock Jan 1821 banns being followed by a marriage in Stoke Damerel in Dec 1823, the latter coming from the Bishops Transcripts?
A very slow Bishop? Cold feet?
Both images are clearly dated.7
Unless anyone can find any other Isaac and Sarah DAW(E) family that "fits" I believe this John belongs to this Isaac and Sarah.
I can't find any other families of these names, nor any other baptisms in Whitchurch.
The baptism dates of Isaac and Sarah's Lamerton born children either side of this John don't negate this identification: 31 Mar 1797, 28 Oct 1798 and 15 Dec 1800.

How did I find him? In researching the family of John DAW and Mary FRIEND because of a dna match between myself (Lorna) a descendant of Isaac & Sarah's son Isaac, and a descendant of their son Thomas.
This blog post refers.
As you can see not all the dots have been fully confirmed, but regardless, it did lead to the finding of this John
I would love to hear from any descendants of John and Mary that may be able to confirm this identification.7

E. & O. E. Some/most parish records are rather hard to read and names, places hard to interpret, particularly if you are unfamiliar with an area.
