Father-PossGeorge Runciman (say 1645 - ); The identification of George & Jennet as David's parents is based purely on date and location and lack of documented alternatives. However, with the results now coming out of the DNA project, possibly we should be looking within East Lothian instead?1,2

     David Runciman was born say 1685 prob. in BEW, SCT, (date a guess, assumes he married at about 25).
     David Runciman married Margaret Brown on 12 Jun 1712 at Gordon, BEW, SCT.3,4
     David Runciman died aft. 1715 prob. in Earlston, BEW, SCT.
     David Runciman was a weaver at Earlston, BEW, SCT.5 In the will of James Runciman on 8 Jun 1858 at Wantonwalls, Par. of Lauder, BEW, SCT, David Runciman was mentioned as his great grandfather.5,6
     As of Mar 2010 descendants of David Runciman and William Runciman have been shown to be genetically related. The DNA results show an excellent match between descendants of these two families (66/67 between a descendant of the Michigan families and 65/67 between a descendant of the Wanton Walls branch).
How they connect is completely unknown as yet. The dna results were a complete surprise so I don't even have a plausible connection between the two families as yet. (I was/am on the trail of trying to prove a completely different theory, which isn't nullified by the newfound results, about the connections for William of Crail as part of the Runciman One Name Study).7
