David Manson was born cir. Oct 1787 at Cogill, Watten, CAI, SCT.1 He was christened on 13 Oct 1787 in the Par. of Watten, CAI, SCT; Entry reads: 1787 Oct 13, James Manson and Christian Georgeson in Cogill had a son baptised named David, Wti: Alex Doull, Coghill, David Murray, Knop.. (Knapperfield?) (Carol said born 15 Oct, IGI (and sighting of OPR) confirms 13th).1,2
David Manson died aft. 1841 ?Watten, CAI, SCT; (not obvious in dth index CAI, 1855 to 1869).3,4
David appeared on the census of 7 Jun 1841 in Watten, CAI, SCT, as MANSON: David, head, with Ellen and Christina (assumed to be his sisters). Also John Smith (Ellen's son) and Margaret Davidson (NB instructions to the enumerators for this census were to round ages to the nearest multiple of 5, children tended to have their ages accurately recorded - or at least as accurate as such things can be. These instructions were not always followed).3 He was likely to be at ?Watten, CAI, SCT, in Mar 1851. He was likely to be at ?Watten, CAI, SCT, in Apr 1861 if still alive.
