     John Daw married Sarah Moore, daughter of Marmaduke Moor and Gertrude Tucker, on 26 Nov 1744 North Lew, DEV, ENG.2
     John Daw died in Aug 1778 North Lew, DEV.3 He was buried on 10 Aug 1778 Churchyard, North Lew, DEV, ENG, Entry simply shows "John Daw August 10th."3,4
     John and Sarah's son Isaac, baptised 1769 has been tentatively identified as the miller Isaac DAWE who married Sarah SMITH.
Age about right, but Black Torrington isn't exactly an area that features in the descendants of Isaac and Sarah.
The Lamerton Parish Registers have a few entries of potential candidates around the right time, but absolutely no identifying characteristics to help much.

Disambiguation:
Several trees identify this John, married to Sarah MOORE (in 1744), as the John son of Joseph DAWE and Elizabeth CROSSMAN.
But as this latter John was born in 1742 methinks there's a flaw in that id.5
