, entry #51 reads Thomas Courtis Metters Batchelor of the Parish of Tavistock and Mary Metters Spinster of the Parish of Beerferris were married in this Ch by Banns with consent of their parents this seventh Day of March 1815 by me Henry Hobart Rector, both signed. Wit by Jno Curtis and Susan With?ridge?
Banns called Tavistock 12th, 19th and 26th Feb 1815, Thomas Courtis Metters of this parish and Mary Metters of the parish of Beer Ferris.^6,3,5,7
Mary Metters was assumed to have died bet. Jan 1858 - Apr 1858 reg. Dist of Tavistock, DEV, ENG, id aided by fact that husband Thomas' will went unadminstered by her and was picked up and probated by son Thomas in 1858.⁸

Many trees confuse this Mary with the one marrying Nathanial HAWKE. Both had a father Richard.
This Mary belongs to Richard and Patience (PIKE) METTERS of Bere Ferrers, the latter belongs to Richard & Johanna (possibly BICKEL) METTERS.
The latter Mary died in Cornwall in 1843, and is buried at Gwennap with her husband and son William.
Although the latter Mary did marry in Walkhampton, the 1841 census shows her as born Cornwall, and there is an appropriate baptism in March 1787, Virginstow Cornwall (Virginstow is on the border of Devon and Cornwall.)^9,10
