This farm was occupied by several generations of the Runciman family, probably from 1793 when a notice to let was published in "The Edinburgh Evening Courant". The family of David and Janet (Lockie) were there when their son David was born c 1804, and descendants were still there in 1989 when Dod Runciman's son Billy was only offered a limited partnership rather than a full tenancy of the farm. A newspaper cutting from "The Scotsman" Saturday 27 May 1989 records that the final sale of livestock and implements was "this week".
