     Cecilia Sinton married George McArra on 28 May 1827 Edinburgh St Cuthberts, MLN, SCT, entry reads: George McArra joiner residing in No. 3 Riego Street and Cecilia Sinton Residing in No. 3 Walker Street, both in this Parish, Daughter of the late James Sinton Ploughman in Jedburgh have been three times proclaimed in order to Marriage in the Parish Church of St Cuthberts and no objections have been offered.1
     Cecilia McArra died on 13 Jul 1863 Main St (23), Glasgow, LKS, SCT; cert. shows Cecilia as 64, widow of George McARA, stone merchant; d/o James SINTON farm servant & __ m.s. __, both dec'd; Died 11:30pm of influenza 10 days; Inf. William CLARK, present 12 ?Cow?? Cottages.2
     As Cecilia's first daughter was named Agnes and her father was given as James when she married George, she likely belongs to a James and Agnes.
James and Agnes (WEIGHT) SINTON had married in 1793 at which time James was described as a hind in Southdean.
Cecilia states she was born Chesters in at least one census.4
