Thomas Mabon was born on 22 Aug 1777 Midlem, Par. of Bowden, ROX, SCT.2,4 He was baptized on 30 Aug 1777 Par. of Bowden, ROX, SCT; a family record in the Bowden OPR:
"John Maibon in Midlem and Betty Maibon his wife, had the following children Born and Baptized by the Revd Mr. Andw Arnot Minr of the associate Congregation at Midlem, viz.
Margaret, Born 15th Janry and Baptized the 21st Do 1771

John Born 19th Augt and Baptized the 26th Do 1782"
Prior entry is for a similar bulk family record for the family of George Maibon in Midlem and Margt Tullies.3,4
Thomas Mabon married Janet Armstrong on 6 Mar 1808 Eckford, ROX, SCT.1,5
Thomas Mabon died bet. 1841 - 1851 ?Bowden, ROX, SCT; wife Janet a widow iin 1851.6
My current conclusion is that this Thomas is the brother of Margaret married James RICHARDSON..

There are two contemporary Thomas MABONs, both married to Janets.
Both deceased before the 1851 census.
The one married to Janet YOUNG appears to have died prior to the 1841 census, so his birth is open to more conjecture, but his wife is shown as born about 1767 in the 1851 census (aged 84), which is within range of her age of 70 in the 1841.
The one married to Janet ARMSTRONG definitely has Bowden connections
AND the Scottish naming pattern (a hint only) does fit for both Thomas and Janet.7

E. & O. E. Some/most parish records are rather hard to read and names, places hard to interpret, particularly if you are unfamiliar with an area.
