BMDB data

David Richardson was born on 25 Dec 1820 Morebattle, ROX, SCT.4 He was baptized on 15 Jul 1821 Morebattle Shaw, ROX, SCT; entry shows ... was bap. David son to James Richardson and Christian Outerston by the Revd Mr Culbertson (also an Andrew at Morebattle Aug 4 "of Morebattle in said Parish".
The earlier (25th Jan 1821) established church baptism is on a page of mixed 1820-1822 dates, out of sequence, with the entry for David reading:
"James Richardson Tailor in Morebattle and Christian Outterston his spouse had a son born 25th day of December Eighteen hundred and twenty and Baptized on the 25 January following- named David" with the following entry being for David's brother Andrew, born 26 Jun, bap. 27th Jul 1822. An earlier entry on the page is for a George, son of Henry RICHARDSON, tenant in Woodside (and Ann PRESTON) b. 22 Sep 1822, bap. 24 Oct.1,4,2
David Richardson married Catharine Cameron on 17 Feb 1848 NY?, USA.5,6
David Richardson died on 17 Apr 1898 La Crescent, Houston Co., MN, USA, at age 77; indexed as aged 77, b. SCT, s/o James & Christian RICHARDSON who were both b. SCT.7,8,3
Of particular interest is his 1850 NY census entry where he and Catherine are at Deerfield, Onedia Co., about 12 miles away from where his potential step brother Thomas ended up (Trenton, Oneida Co.) and that his daughter Ella had a middle name Meldrum, which is the surname of his presumed/assumed step brother George's wife Margaret.
A Minnesota history provides the following: David Richardson, one of the pioneers of town, is a native of Roxburgh, Scotland, born 25th of December, 1821. He came to (Canada assumed) with his parents in 1834, and five years after enlisted in the Queen's service, serving till the of the rebellion. He then came to the United States, and after a residence of a short time in Vermont, moved to New York and entered the Fairfield Academy, after which he taught school. On the 17th of February, 1848, he was married Miss Catharine B. Cameron. In 1853, they came to Wisconsin, locating in La Crosse, and the same year Mr Richardson took a claim in this place. The following year he, in company with Peter Cameron, put a stock of general merchandise in the house of the latter, which was the first "store" in the town. In 1854, Mr. Richardson brought his family here and in 1857 purchased his farm. He enlisted in the Third Minnesota Artillery in 1863 and after two years service was promoted to Second Lieutenant of the First Minnesota Volunteer Infantry and honorably discharged at the close of the war.9,5,10

E. & O. E. Some/most parish records are rather hard to read and names, places hard to interpret, particularly if you are unfamiliar with an area.
