George McAdie was born say 1833 ?Watten, CAI, SCT.^1,2,3
George McAdie died bef. 1875 ?OKI, SCT; if son George's marriage cert. is to be believed, which looks unlikely.¹

It would appear that George and Catherine were not married.
No index entry for their marriage has been found, and George born 1856 is indexed as George MANSON, mother Catherine MANSON.
However by the time he married in the Orkneys in 1875 he names his father as George McADIE, dec'd.
It may be complete coincidence of course, but Catherine was living at Kirk, Bower in 1841, 1851 and 1861.
In 1851, and at the time of his 1856 marriage to Elizabeth CALDER, George, son of George McADIE and Catherine MULLICAN was also living at Kirk, Bower.
Regardless of his origins, two of his descendants ended up in Australia, with one, Thomas Fergus Buchanan MacADIE rating an entry in the Dictionary of National Biography for Australia.^4,5,3,6,7
