     George Hamilton married Isabella Ormiston, daughter of Archibald Ormiston and Elizabeth Scott, in Feb 1812 Melrose, ROX, SCT, 9th and 12th.¹
     George Hamilton died on 30 Jul 1866 ?St Boswells, ROX, SCT, at age 82.^1,3

A family tree drawn up in 1899 states shows George and Isabella as having 10 children, against 4 of whom is placed the word Australia (George, John, Walter and Helen, who is noted as marrying D. Watson). Their birth years are given but no further information ...

At least one family tree on ancestry shows / showed the family of George & Catherine (HENDERSON) HAMILTON in Sydney as George son of George & Isabella, but other than "old family knowledge" had no other proof.

As two of the trees concerned showed descent from William Sydney and Catherine, children of George and Catherine, the identification of their ancestor is now in doubt, as a headstone in Rookwood Cem. for their mother, shows both died as infants, along with two other siblings. Circumstantial evidence does indicate that the George married to Catherine is at least of the right age.

We would love to find a direct male line HAMILTON in the present day willing to join the FAMILTON Surname DNA project to see if there is a link to the other FAMILTON families.
