     John Walls Gibson was born on 21 Apr 1917 at 58 Lauriston Pl, Edinburgh, MLN, SCT, cert. reads: John Walls Gibson, s/o Andrew, engineering draughtsman of Stoneyrig, Kirknewton, Midlothian (now West Lothian) and Jessie m.s. McGlashan who married 23 Aug 1913.4,2 He and Margaret McCaskill were engaged cir. 1941 at Leeds, YKS, ENG.5
     John Walls Gibson died on 2 Nov 1942 in the Western Desert, EGY, at age 25; Killed in action, 25, MB, Lt (W.S./Capt) Royal Army Medical Corps, born SCT;
Obit in the British Medical Journal for 5 Dec 1942 records: War Subs. Capt. John Walls Gibson, R.A.M.C., was killed in action in the Middle East in November. He was born on April 21, 1917, the only son of Mr & Mrs Andrew Gibson of Uphall, Broxburn, West Lothian, and was educated at he University of Edinburgh, where he graduated M.B., Ch. B. in 1939. After working as an assistant to a Leeds firm of doctors he entered the R.A.M.C. as temp. lieut. He was a member of the B.M.A.2,6,7 He was buried in El Alamein War Cem., EGY.3
     John Walls Gibson was in military service bef. 1942 Captain Royal Army Medical Corps, secondary reg. Durham Light Infantry, attd 6th Bn, service no. 161597.3 Well, what a surprise that email was!
John was thought to have died, unmarried, in WWII, with the assumption that entailed of no children.
However, an "out of the blue" email from his grandson Alan has changed my view of John's history somewhat.
Alan had only just that day finally identified his mother's father, and found my web pages as a result.
