- WillPublish*: On 24 Aug 1943 Margaret Scott was living at 35 Greenbank Cres, Edinburgh, MLN, SCT, when she wrote her will, dying 24 Jan 1945. She specifically remembered the following relatives: Mrs Marie Laird, David Russell Scott, Andrew Higham Scott and Jeanie Scott. A codicil dated 12 Jan 1945 removed the legacies to Mrs Mary Mossman and John Harvey Mossman (Robert's brother and his wife, so Margaret's brother-in-law) and gave the freed £100 to Doctor David Russell Scott. She also increased from twenty five pounds to forty pounds, the legacy to Ina Easton.
The will itself shows Margaret as the widow of Robert Mossman, wholesale provision merchant "who resided there (her address).
The copy in possession of Grace is annotated in pencil (probably by Rita Legear, as a letter shows this copy was sent from California to Grace before she began her OE), "Gracie, Preserve this for the future! Don't lose it" and, in different writing, "Sir Russell Scott. ? wedding Duke & Duchess of York. Messrs Richardson & Sons, Carwrights 2 West Lauriston Place Edinburgh Jan 1864" Specific bequests were:
"To Mrs Marie Laird, wife of Doctor David Laird and residing at Maraval, Dunbalne, my house at Number Sixteen Brunstfield Avenue, Edinburgh" (Marie is Marion, dtr of Margaret's brother Adam)
"To Doctor David Russell Scott of Number Thirty one Dick Place, Edinburgh, my house at Number One hundred and three Comiston Road, Edinburgh" (David is the above Marion's brother)
"To Andrew Higham Scott of Number Eleven Gardiner Road, Blackhall, my house at Number Seven Montpelier Terrace, Edinburgh" (Andrew is another nephew, the son of Andrew Richardson Scott)
"To Miss Jeanie Scott, care of Sir Robert Russell Scott of Inverern House, Forres, my house at Number Eighty Temple Park Cresent, Edinburgh" (Jeanie assumed to be Sir Robert Russell's sister, both children of Adam Scott, Margaret's brother)
to be continued, I'm still working thru who all the people are - and marvelling at the number of houses she had to leave!7,8

E. & O. E. Some/most parish records are rather hard to read and names, places hard to interpret, particularly if you are unfamiliar with an area.
