- LetterFull*: The full text of the letter Walter Wight Henderson wrote on 7 Mar 1892 from Enfield, nr Oamaru, OTG, NZ, reads: Dear Dot, - This is the first time I have written to you. I have my leg broken and I have time to write to my friends. I was building sheaves on a dray. When going down a hill some of the sheaves slipped forward on the horse's back, and I went with them and fell on to the ground, and the wheel went over my leg and broke it. I was about four miles from home when it was done, and father (William Henderson) brought me home in the cart lying on sheaves. I am getting better, and I expect to be up out of bed soon. It is a month now since it was done. I have been twice at Dunedin, and I think it a very nice town. I was in the Leith Valley, near where the waterfalls are. It is a very pretty place, and there is beautiful scenery. I see there are not many letters in the Little Folks' column just now, so I thought I would write to help to make it up. I go to school, and am in Sixth Standard with my eldest brother(James). Dear Dot, may I write again, as I cannot tell you all the news this time? - Yours truly, Walter W Henderson (aged 13 years). Enfield, March 7, 1892
Yes, Walter, I hope you will. I am very sorry for you, and hope your leg will get as strong as it was before the accident. It must have been very painful riding among the sheaves for four miles with a broken leg. - Dot.5

E. & O. E. Some/most parish records are rather hard to read and names, places hard to interpret, particularly if you are unfamiliar with an area.
